MusicTech Launches ‘My Forever Studio’ Podcast

Subscribe now for some seriously fun and geeky gear chat with some of the best in audio, production and music making.

LONDON, UK & SINGAPORE, SINGAPORE, 23 JANUARY 2020 – Imagine you have an unlimited budget and could spec up your perfect studio. Where would it be? What would it look like? And what gear would you want in it? At MusicTech, they’re asking just that.

In MusicTech’s first-ever podcast – My Forever Studio – hosts Chris Barker and Will Betts ask artists, studio pros and industry luminaries to imagine a studio where they would be happy to live out their days. The first three episodes are available now and feature special guests DJ and producer Danny Byrd, Brendon Harding and Jake Murray from London’s iconic Strongroom Studios, and engineer Drew Bang (U2, Royal Blood and HAIM). Later in the series, hear from guests such as beatboxer/comedian Beardyman, Spitfire Audio co-founder Christian Henson and more!

There are rules in the Forever Studio. Guests are only allowed to have six pieces of gear in their studio – including musical instruments or production gear – plus one non-gear-related item. And, to stop the music intelligentsia from cheating the system, there’s a strict no-bundle policy! (Listen to the trailer here).

Meng Kuok, CEO from BandLab Technologies, said “I am very proud to be launching the first podcast by a brand in the BandLab Technologies group. Audio entertainment is an important part of our content strategy, look out for more in the near future. Throughout 2020 you’ll see a continued focus on increasing our media offerings to our audience, so that people can engage with our content and brands at different points in their day.”

Between them, MusicTech’s My Forever Studio co-hosts, Chris Barker and Will Betts have decades of music production, media, DJing and songwriting experience, and they’re having plenty of fun with their guests and subject matter.

Co-host, Chris Barker says, “We’re so chuffed to finally be presenting this podcast to the world – it’s been a real passion project for both of us. It’s been an enormous amount of fun to make, and I think that comes across in the recordings. It’s nerds like us having fun dreaming up their ideal studio – what’s not to love?”

MusicTech Features Editor, Will Betts says “The thing I’ve loved most about making the podcast is being able to have lighthearted conversations while staying firmly in the world of geeky studio tech. We basically just made a podcast we’d want to listen to. What really surprised me about the process is how different each guest’s Forever Studios was. Listeners will enjoy getting a real insight into our guests’ approaches and what inspires them to create.”

Audio experts, casual and dedicated gear heads alike will all find something to enjoy in this humorous series, which shows that sometimes the toughest choices can also be the most entertaining.
