SINGAPORE, TUESDAY MAY 21, 2019 – BandLab Technologies today announces that Cakewalk by BandLab now has support for the latest ARA 2 specification, bringing enhanced communication with ARA plug-ins. This allows users to enjoy faster workflows and many exciting new capabilities.
With the 2019.05 release, Cakewalk is now compatible with ARA 2 plug-ins such as Melodyne 4 and Synchro Arts Revoice Pro, as well as future ARA 2 compatible plug-ins. Cakewalk continues to support ARA 1 plug-ins as well.
Anselm Rößler, Managing Director of Celemony says, “Back in 2013, Cakewalk [then known as SONAR] was one of the first DAWs to integrate ARA. We are, therefore, all the more pleased that the current Cakewalk by BandLab now also supports ARA 2, providing users of Melodyne and other ARA plug-ins with a future-proof basis for further and even better ARA workflows.”
Noel Borthwick, Senior Manager Audio Core, Cakewalk by BandLab says “ARA2 has been a development priority for us, as one of the most requested new formats. Its introduction enables deeper native integration with Melodyne 4 and other ARA 2 compatible plugins. With ARA 2, Cakewalk provides tighter integration, including sharing tracks, regions, selection, color, and other project details.”
Shared view for all ARA plug-in instances
A single plug-in view is now used to show all ARA 2 plug-in instances of the same type in the project. Clicking or double clicking on any ARA 2 plug-in region will reuse the same view. This makes working with multiple ARA clips in a project much quicker, such as when comping, since plug-in views no longer need to open and close for each clip.
Track and clip selection
The selection state for tracks and clips in Cakewalk are automatically sent to ARA plug-ins. Where supported by the plug-in, selection may be shown in the plug-in view. For example, blobs for selected tracks and clips in Cakewalk are automatically highlighted in Melodyne.
Track/Clip color
Plug-ins may colorize their UI based on Cakewalk track and clip colors.
Track/Region/Project names
Plug-ins can access the descriptive names for tracks, clips and the project itself.
To celebrate this release, we’ve partnered with the good folk at Celemony to give away a copy of Melodyne 4 Studio – the complete Melodyne, worth US$849, along with 5 Melodyne Essential licenses, the entry point to getting started on Melodyne, each worth US$99.
